So, we’ve been watching a lot of movies and I dusted off the old PS2 to start playing games again. My g/f used some of my winnings in GT3 to buy a TVR Tuscan Speed 6… That machine, once it was fully modified, is sex on 4 wheels. Uber uNF!.

Like I said, my g/f and I have been watching a lot of movies lately, since there is no TV. We got a movie from netflix, called Secondhand Lions. I definitely give it a thumbs up. It’s about these 2 eccentric, millionaire brothers who take in their nephew for a little visit while his slut of a mother ‘goes to school’ in florida to become a court reporter (I think..maybe it was a dentists assistant…anyways, it was one of those types of things like you see advertised on daytime TV). Excellent, good clean fun type of movie.

Cable supposedly gets turned back on, on 10/2. It’s funny, I don’t do much online other than checking my email and what not, and I can do it all at work, but it freaks me out to not be able to just look something up online whenever I want… I think I might be ‘addicted’ — oh well.

So, Rachel (my g/f) was kind enough to bring my laptop into work so I could upload pics into the gallery.

Well, since my cable access has been turned off at home, and won’t be turned back on untill the 2nd, I probably won’t have many updates, and the pictures won’t get uploaded untill after then, unless I goto my mom’s house to use her connection. Consider this a brief hiatus notice :(

Planes, Trains and Automobiles is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a long time. My g/f Rachel recommended that we see, and it’s definately up there on my list of movies now. It’s a bit older, being made in 1987, but definately worth a watch if you havn’t seen it yet. It stars Steve Martin and John Candy as a pair of unlikely travel mates who demonstrate that Murphys law is still alive and kicking. I highly recommended it, specialy if you’re kicking back with some buddies drinking a beer or 9.

So, I had this crazy nightmare last night, which is pretty rare for me as I’m not particularly prone to nightmares. It was about satanic stuffed animals that would toy with you while trying to take bites out of your flesh, and they had pools of blood sitting in the backs of their throats…ick

I think theres too much stress in my life.

So, I went to my ex’s with my new girlfriend Rachel (I’ll post a blurb about her sometime later for those of you who don’t know her, maybe at the same time I do that massive update I’ve been promising forever, which I still swear I will be getting to soon), to meet up with my Ex and her boyfriend. They got drunk pretty quickly, but in all fairness, we did finish of a 5th in less than 45 minutes. A lot of people might have gotten irritated at this point, but everyone was actualy more jovial than belligerent so it was pretty fun. There was a little drama w/ my Ex, but not too much. I had a lot of fun playing video games w/ her new boyfriend, who’s a pretty cool guy.

We came home to what we thought was an empty house, made some french toast sticks and sausages as a later dinner, and heard some yelling outside. I’m not going to post any details out of respect their privacy, but suffice to say that two of my friends now have casts and I was in the ER until 6:30am.

Ok, so, it’s not a robot, it’s a new laptop. My old laptops HD gave up the ghost with an awesome grinding/screeching sound. Then it rebooted itself. It’s only 2 years old, so that kind of makes me wonder. It’s possible the HD just died, but in the back of my head, I wonder if it had anything to do with the wonky electrical system in my house. I couldn’t charge the digital camera battery last week and had thought I had broken the camera, but when I went over to my mom’s house and charged it there, it worked just fine…weird. I didn’t go all out on the new laptop, but I did get a good deal and a definite upgrade. I went with the Toshiba A75-S206

It’s got a nice crisp WXGA 15.4″ widescreen monitor and a 2.8ghz P4 w/ HyperThreading. 60GB of HD space. I had somewhat hoped to get something w/ 80GB, but in all honesty, it was worth the price jump and I rarely used all 60GB of my last one, so I couldn’t justify even more cost for something that I didn’t need. I also choose to forego the model with the build in DVD burner, because it was $400 more, and with the price of 8x dual format DVD players hovering around $60 (I’ve seen as low as $15 after rebate) and external firewire/usb2 cases costing around $40, I just couldn’t justify that $400 either. I was surprised to find that it actualy came with Office 2003 (and Microsoft Works, which I promptly deleted). I was also quite surprised to see that it came pre-loaded with Napster. I’m going to assume it’s the Napster 2.0 that’s really a pay-per-song service, since I didn’t actualy start it up before deleting it. It came with some decent looking DVD authoring software, which leads me to the believe they use the same system image as some of the higher end models, which I am ok with it. I had been looking for decent DVD authoring software since I DO have a DVD burner, it’s just in my MythTV box which is a linux box.
What I have been doing in the past is authoring DVD in windows, and transferring the image so I can burn it in Linux. Linux just completely lacks any decent visual DVD authoring software.

Anyways, here’s the full specs:

So, the StumpTown coffee place across the street seems to have caught fire. They roast their own coffee beans, so I think it’s not a complete surprise to most people, although, I did see a few people starting to shed tears, knuckles white as they death gripped their empty coffee mugs. There’s 2 firetrucks currently blocking the street, dealing with it.

So, I took last friday off, giving me a real 3 day weekend. Not only was it was a 3 day weekend, it was the only time I’ve gotten 2 consecutive days fully off in the past month, thus making it the best weekend I’ve had in quite a while. On Saturday, I did absolutely nothing, and it was everything I imagined it could be. Now, to just stop being lazy and post those pics in the gallery that I’ve been promising.

Last week sometime, we were grilling up burgers and having a few beers in the back yard. Evan came by with the salt and pepper and seasoned the patties, then left…

I actualy said, “Woah, dude, the burgers were just a-salt-ed in the 3rd degree”

Yeah, I’m a dork… but it was actualy kind of funny at the moment.

So, expect those really soon… I ended up transfering the pics at my mom’s house when I returned the camera. I’ve got them all on cd.

I also found some pics from the Oregon Trail Rally that I had taken, I’ll be posting those at the same time. Maybe even tonight.
